Here at Monopoly, Christmas is one of our favourite times of the year. Everyone is excited and there is a certain buzz in the air. We love to get into the festive spirit and see what there is to do around the local area.
But with so much to choose from, what should you do first?

A Trip To One Of Wrexham’s Historical Properties
One of multiple National Trust properties in the Wrexham area, Erddig Hall is hosting a variety of Christmas themed events over the festive season.
Some of the events happening include a winter walk around Erddig, supper with Father Christmas himself and new for 2017, they will be hosting a winter toybox trail. With so much going on, you’re bound to be there multiple times over the next month.

How About Some Music?
Legendary 70s rockers and writers of the hit Christmas single, “Merry Xmas Everybody”, Slade are set to play William Aston Hall on the 16th December.
Known for their other hits such as “Coz I Luv You” and “My Oh My”, the Wolverhampton based band is set to put on an exciting show for fans in attendance.
Tickets start from £23.50 and doors open at 7pm. This could be a fantastic night out for any fans of the band and the event is named ‘Christmas Shindig –The Ultimate Christmas Party’, so we have a feeling that they’re going to play their Christmas hit.

Want To Send Santa A Letter?
During the Christmas season, kids all over the world write special letters to Santa in hopes of getting a reply. But you usually end up being the messenger between your children and Saint Nick.
But this year, children can actually post the letters to the North Pole themselves at Wrexham Library. The Library is holding a “Letters to Santa” event from the 27th November till the 22nd December where anyone can come and write out their letter and post it in the Christmas Post Box.
You can then visit again in December to find your reply in their festive display. This could be a great way of allowing your kids to contact Santa himself and get involved in the process.

Witness The Christmas Market
Back again this winter; the Wrexham Victorian Christmas Market is back and better than ever.
Boasting over 70 unique stalls; the Market has something for everyone. From toys to candles to clothing to hand made Christmas decorations, there’s plenty to look at. If you’re after some classic Christmas food to get you in the spirit, there is no need to worry, as there will be more than enough choice available.
The Christmas Market is being held on Thursday 7th December and will be open from 12pm to 8pm. You can find more information here.
Have You Finished Your Shopping Yet?
Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year, and a huge part of that is the organising and buying of gifts for your loved ones. It’s a holiday tradition and Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without it.
But it can be tricky to find that special gift for everyone.
How about a shopping trip to Eagles Meadow?
With the amount of shops located in Wrexham’s fantastic shopping centre, you’re bound to find something for everyone. There’s a nice variety too, with the likes of H&M, The Entertainer, Boots, The Carphone Warehouse and Topshop.
If you’ve been organised and already got your presents sorted, Eagles Meadow has lots of family fun on offer. With an Odeon cinema and Tenpin Bowling, there are plenty of hours of fun to be had. If you get hungry, stop by the likes of Nando’s, Frankie & Benny’s or Starbucks to get your food fix.

All Aboard For The Santa Special
Llangollen Railway is getting a visit from Santa himself this Christmas and you can be apart of it.
The journey takes you from Llangollen Station to Lapland (Carrog) and each child will have the opportunity to meet Father Christmas. Each child will receive a special gift on the train and there’s a mince pie for every adult. Could this be the perfect Christmas experience for the whole family?

Chill Out For Christmas
Wrexham Museum is hosting a live ice-carving event on Thursday 14th December, sponsored by Wrexham Lager.
This chilly show gives you the chance to see some sensational live ice carving by Simon O’Rourke, and you can even win some chocolate if you can get what the carving will be. Each attendant can enjoy a free complimentary drink in an ice glass and taste some delicious festive food.
The event is being held from 3pm to 8pm and tickets cost £2.50 per adult or £5.00 for a family, available to book here.
How About A Trip To The Zoo?
You might not necessarily think that a trip to the zoo is very Christmassy, but Chester Zoo has plenty of festive activities going on.
From 24th November to 30th December, Chester Zoo will be transformed into an “enchanting world full of illumination and spellbinding theatrical adventure”. The Christmas makeover is the perfect way to get you and the animals ready for the holidays.
The Lanterns experience allows you to witness the Zoo like you’ve never seen it before, opening after the usual closing time. It sounds like it’s going to be an amazing experience and the perfect way to kick start Christmas. There is also a brand new seasonal menu in the Bembe Kitchen by the main entrance that boasts something mouth-watering options.

Feel Festive At The Theatre
Chester’s latest addition is the Storyhouse theatre and they are planning on making their first Christmas open jam packed with things to do.
The events start with a brand new production of Enid Blyton’s classic “The Secret Seven”, running from the start of December to mid January. This is then followed by “Now That’s What I Call Christmas!” workshops, storytelling with Santa and screenings of Christmas classics such as Home Alone. These are only a few of the many different things happening at Storyhouse this December.
There really is something for everyone.

Want To Visit Santa’s Grotto?
The Ice Cream Farm in Chester are holding a special event this Christmas, hosting Santa’s Grotto in the world’s largest Ice Cream Parlour.
Families will be welcomed by Santa and his elves into his Grotto and will get the chance to talk with Father Christmas. The price is £7 and booking is essential, as time slots will likely go fast.
Once your kids have met Saint Nick, let them use up their energy on some of facilities, such as Honeycomb Canyon, Fudge Farm and Daisy’s Garden. This will also give you the chance to try some of the delicious ice cream available at The Ice Cream Farm.
