Now Altrincham is a bit pricier, with the average house price being almost £200,000 more than York, and over £300,000 more than in Stoke-on-Trent. 

With the budget of £495,000, this could get you a 3-bedroom apartment with a beautiful roof garden. The property is located in Hale, which is near to Altrincham and has good local transport access. It has transformed into a sleek, stylish penthouse, suitable for anyone with a luxury lifestyle.

Not exactly a family home though, if that is what you are after.


This property is a 3-bedroom detached house located in Guildford, Surrey. It features 3 double bedrooms, an en-suite shower room, 2 reception rooms and a garage and space up for to 4 vehicles. This property is priced at only £485,000, being under budget by £10,000. 

The location gives it easy access to the local train stations and it’s close to the A331, A3 and M3. Another benefit to this property is that it is situated opposite a primary school, making it ideal for families.

This kind of home is relatively cheap for Surrey though, and hard to find.

What Can The Average House Price in Stoke-on-Trent Get You Elsewhere?

Now let’s move on to the main question.

Stoke-on-Trent’s average house price is around £128,255. Compared to a lot of other places in the country, this is cheap. Therefore, meaning you can opt for a nicer home without having to spend huge amounts.

For example, you could get a 3-bedroom semi-detached house for £130,000. Situated in a good location, it features double-glazed windows, a large drive leading to a detached garage and has great access to the local parks and the City Centre.

Now we know what this price gets you in Stoke-on-Trent, let’s see what kind of property this amount will get you in other locations.


This budget will tend to get you either a 3-bedroom terraced house or a nice apartment in the City. 

Like this property, which is a 2-bedroom apartment priced at £130,000. It has an open plan kitchen/dining area, an en-suite bathroom and it’s good for transport access.

Not a bad start, but you’re definitely getting more for your money in Stoke-on-Trent.


Now we venture up North. A budget of £130,000 can get you a spacious 2-bedroom flat located in Edinburgh. 

It’s a modern building, located in a popular residential area and has a modern fitted kitchen, gas central heating and a family bathroom. The average house price in Edinburgh is over £100,000 more than Stoke-on-Trent, so this shows why this amount will tend to only get you a flat.


Newcastle’s average house price is around £194,958, which doesn’t seem like much more than the price in Stoke-on-Trent. But let’s take a look at what you could find for £130,000.

This is a cheap and affordable option, but there is more to be had elsewhere.

What The Average Price Elsewhere Can Get You In Stoke-on-Trent

Now we’ve seen what the price of houses in Stoke-on-Trent can get you in other areas, let’s flip the tables and see what Stoke-on-Trent has to offer.


So the average house price in London is an enormous number of £688,357. You can understand why it is the most expensive place to live in the country. 

For this large amount of cash, you could get your hands on an 8-bedroom (Yes, 8 whole bedrooms), detached house located in the sought after area of Endon, near Stoke-on-Trent.

This property has a grand hallway, formal lounge, sitting room, en-suite bathrooms, a breakfast and a dining room, and comes with 0.53 acres of land as well. It even has 3 separate cellars occupying the basement. It sounds like it came straight from a fairy tale.

This beautiful house is priced at only £650,000, meaning you would be under budget by almost £40,000.


Now the average price of houses in Exeter isn’t nearly as much as it is in London, but it’s still not cheap at an average of £263,229. 

This budget could get you a lovely 4 bedroom semi-detached house in Stoke-on-Trent. Featuring an open plan lounge/dining area, converted garage and double glazed windows, this property sounds like the ideal family home.

Imagine what you could do with all that space.


Going back to Surrey here as an example, because it has a huge average house price of £509,350. Now that is a fair bit of money. 

Using this kind of budget, this could get you a spacious 4-bedroom semi-detached house in Stoke-on-Trent. Whilst sporting 4 bedrooms, this property also has 4 spacious reception rooms, 2 bathrooms, beautiful staircase, a garage and a large garden.

It should be noted that this property has many original features from when the house was built and isn’t too far from the local train station.


Now back down to a more affordable option, with Aberdeen having an average house price of £201,968. 

For the price of £200,000, you could get your hands on a modern 3-bedroom detached house located in Newchapel, Stoke-on-Trent. Adding to the 3 bedrooms, the property also has a beautiful modern kitchen, high specification bathroom, outside garage workshop and even a hot tub.
I don’t know about you, but I’m tempted just by the hot tub.


Finally we have our last location Cambridge, which sports an average house price of £470,415. 

Using this budget, you could afford a 5-bedroom detached house located in Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent. This stylish modern family residence is situated on a desirable development and has bathroom suites, breakfast kitchen, a sun lounge extension and a garage conversion.

This property has more than enough room, and is perfect for large families, or families expecting some more additions.


After comparing all of these different prices, it’s safe to say that Stoke-on-Trent as a whole is a cheap place to live. Most properties have good access to transport and local shops and schools, and you can get your hands on some really nice houses, whatever your budget.
