Is it time to move?

It can be difficult to know if you’re ready for a move or not. There are many implications that come with it, but sometimes it’s necessary. Here are a few signs that it may be time for you to consider a move:

The House Is Suddenly A Lot Bigger

When you first moved into your current home, it was probably full of the mess and noise and buzzing atmosphere that comes with having the whole family around.

But now, the kids have moved out permanently and the house is suddenly too big and far too quiet.

This might mean it’s time to downsize. Sometimes this can be difficult – your home has many good memories associated with it and it can be hard to let it go. But downsizing means you can have another home to make your own and create even more memories, as well as giving another family the chance to make their own happy memories in the home you love.

In addition, by downsizing, not only will you save money on the bills, but you won’t have any extra unused rooms to clean. Definitely a positive!

Your Family Is Expanding

On the other hand, one of the main reasons you might be thinking of moving is simply because your family is getting bigger. You might be expecting your first child, or maybe your family is continuing to grow and you don’t have enough space (shared bedrooms are great when your children are young but they get older this could get a bit stressful).

If you find yourself wondering how you’re going to manage in the future, then perhaps it’s time to consider a move.

Your Family Is Expanding

You also need to consider if where you’re living now has all the things you need for your child as they grow older – for example, good schools, family-friendly activities, parks, and after school clubs.

You Need More Space

Now, you might be thinking; why not just declutter and have a sort out?

But sometimes that just isn’t enough.

You may have tried multiple times to have a good declutter and get the job done right, but you still end up right back were you were when you started – with a lack of space.

If this is becoming a continuous problem, then it’s likely your current space is not working for you anymore.
You might want to think about upgrading to a property with more room if it’s within your budget.

You’re Getting Tired Of That Morning Commute

You might really love your job, or are just comfortable and confident with where you currently work. However, if you live quite a distance away from your workplace, the morning commute often takes up quite a bit of time and can start to become tiresome and expensive when you’re doing it day after day.If you don’t plan on leaving your job anytime soon, but rather you wake up dreading the commute, then maybe it’s time to reconsider your current living arrangements and try to find somewhere closer to your place of employment.

Tired Of That Morning Commute

There’s Somewhere You’ve Always Wanted To Live

Is there somewhere you’ve wanted to live for a long time? Somewhere that you can’t get out of your mind? Maybe you visited a certain place once, and when you left it felt like you were leaving home. This isn’t the same as leaving somewhere you went on a nice holiday – instead, you really did not want to go because you felt like you were leaving somewhere you felt comfortable and belonged.

If this is the case, then perhaps it’s a sign that you should consider moving to that place.

Too Many Upgrades and Too Much DIY

How long is your list of DIY projects?

If it’s getting a bit too long, and it’s going to cost you more to get them done than it would to move home, then you may want to think about moving into a more low-maintenance property. This would be less stressful for you and could end up saving you money.

Also, you find yourself constantly looking at interior design websites and telling yourself you’re going to get this done or you’re going to get that done, it may be better to look for an upgraded home rather than paying for a bunch of interior design updates.

You Want A Change Of Scenery

If you’ve been living in the same neighbourhood your whole life and you find yourself feeling not too fond of where you live anymore, along with constantly thinking about what life somewhere else would be like, it might be a move that you need.Another reason for wanting a change of scenery could be that your current town is not what it used to be.

You Want A Change Of Scenery
Naturally, everything changes overtime, including places. Perhaps certain developments have occurred that you don’t like or the feel of the town has changed making it a place you don’t want to live in anymore. No matter how old you are, if you are able to financially and there’s nothing keeping you in your current town then follow your gut and make the move.Alternatively, there could be negative experiences associated with where you currently live that you can’t shake off. If this is the case, and your home is making you unhappy, then maybe it’s time to consider relocating.

You Need A New Experience

Moving to a new place can simultaneously be the scariest yet most exciting experience of your life, especially if you’re young. Leaving everything you know to go out in to the world on your own definitely sounds daunting, but if some part of you telling you it’s what you need to do, then take the leap and go for it.

It could be you want to experience life at a different pace, or you want to see what life is like in another place. Maybe you just want to see what it would be like to live on your own and get to know and love an unfamiliar place.

Whatever your reasoning, it’s an experience you can learn a lot from and is definitely worth the risk.

You Want More Opportunities

Simply put, your current location doesn’t offer many opportunities and it’s making you feel stuck. There might not be much going on in your current area, or you might be chasing after a life-long career dream which your hometown just doesn’t have the resources for.

If it’s more opportunities you’re after, then perhaps consider moving somewhere that has these on offer.

People You Care About Live Elsewhere

It could all just boil down to the fact that you feel lonely. Perhaps your family and close friends live in another area, or you might be in a long-distance relationship.

We can all feel lonely from time to time, but if this feeling persists, it could very well be a sign that it’s time to move somewhere that is closer to your family, friends or significant other.
